The FUN Factor in workshops : POST 2

Dear Students,
The workshop is a place and time when learning should be accidental and fun should be incidental !
It must create an atmosphere where every participant becomes part of the whole and yet looks deep inside his/her personality, makes a careful analysis of his/her skills and draws suitable and agreeable plans to fill those gaps. There is individual effort , team work and fun and learning in that order.
The workshop is scheduled from 1st June to 7th June, 2011.
However, due to an important assignment, for me on 1st June, we may begin the workshop from 2nd June and conclude it on 8th June, 2011. JUST BE PREPARED.
DURING THE WORKSHOP :-  FOLLOW RULES STRICTLY TO AVOID ELIMINATION.
During the workshop, you will be given small manageable tasks with instructions.
You must complete the tasks by reading the instructions on your own
Help will be given but points will be deducted.
The participant who finishes the task RIGHT FIRST TIME - FIRST will get the maximum points.
There will be appropriate breaks between events and you will have time to speak to other participants.
Please bring enough food and refreshments and WATER that will keep you nourished throughout the day.
So much for TODAY.
I am still chiseling the dos and donts , list of essentials for the workshop.

Good Wishes

Countdown to workshop : Post 1

Dear Students,

I am busy with some personal work and also preparations for the workshop and hence I could not post any news.

Now is the time to begin the countdown, I guess.

The primary objective of this workshop is to create an environment within the department that helps any student get the required skills easily without spending lots of money or running around external agencies.

The trick of making this a success is VERY SIMPLE. Specialisation.

Small teams must be developed that specialise in different areas of Electronic design. Any student of the department can approach this small team..either online or personally to get the required know-how.

You learn a skill, you form a team, you perfect the art and craft of that specific skill, and you are ready to IMPART that skill to whoever wants to learn.

During the workshop, we will take you through the formal steps of design and prototype development. We will basically look at YOUR ATTITUDE towards the field of Electronics. You will agree that attitude is very important for success. Once you have the right attitude, your success is only a matter of time...depending on your understanding, practice and perfection.

To make everyone understand the seriousness of this workshop, we have devised a few rules that help you decide whether you match the requirements or not.

Strict adherence to timings, written instructions  is a MUST. You will risk elimination in case you do not follow them.

Please DO NOT BUY any tools or components. We will give you ALL inputs at the right time.

VERY IMPORTANT :
THIS WORKSHOP DOES NOT LOOK AT YOUR EAMCET RANK/CLASS RANK/ANY OTHER RANK. YOU WILL START FROM ZERO...UP !

Good Wishes

Workshop for 2009 Batch - Objectives

Dear Students,

Before I announce the schedule which will last ONE WEEK from 1st June , 2011, let me explain to you the objectives of the workshop.

1. To inculcate a sense of pride in the discipline of Electronics and Communication Engg in every student.
2. To add value to the course you are taking and marks you get by giving you the practical approach to Electronics.
3. Remove the small fears or inhibitions you may be having while approaching Electronic Design.
4. Give you the required confidence and courage to take move from small practical tasks to bigger projects through a disciplined approach.
5. Understand and value fellow Engineers, share knowledge for mutual benefit and growth, develop strong bonds and create areas of specialisation to which other students can come for inputs.
6. Experience, understand and experiment in forming teams for realising an objectives.
7. Learn the meaning of real teamwork and cooperation through simple projects and activities involving Electronic Design.
8. Help in disseminating the skills taught to you in the workshop to the rest of your class or any other team that may want to benefit from your instruction. Learn-Teach-Learn cycle is the best way to consolidate your skills.
9. Create learning cycles of experimentation, feedback and assessment.
10. Help you in discovering your true potential.

I hope these are some nice objectives to begin with.

I am preparing a manual which will take you quickly from basic introduction to Electronic design on Day 1 to a series of practical work that will involve a 'competitive' structure to add some excitement to your learning.

At the end of the course, you will go back with a clear understanding of how to integrate your subject based theoretical knowledge to practical work and become a complete professional.

During the week long programme you will have to make notes, rig up circuits, make power point presentations, explain your understanding of your work to the rest of your class and so on. Later, you will be able to take decisions with confidence.

The list of students selected for the course will be displayed on this blog tomorrow.
Intake will be limited to 15 only.

Thanks again &
God Bless You
